FSR Spring 2011 DE Wrap-Up

  • VIR Staff - The folks that took their lunch during our Day One incidents to ensure we didn't lose any track time.  We are SO appreciative!
  • John Kopp of Racewerks in Virginia Beach - Our DE Chairperson...Often on the radios and rarely driving a car, John's dedication to our club's track program is immense.  We are very fortunate to have John's leadership in FSR.  Thank you!
  • Our DE Committee Members - Phil Granfield (my Co-Registrar), Chris Stanley (our Tech Chair), John Schwaebler (Tech Team), and Alex Bell (CTI).  Thanks for everything you do before and during our event to help us pull it off!
  • Our Classroom Instructors - Tom Bobbitt, Paul Oberdorfer, and Pete Kaufmann.  Thanks for your preparation and for sharing your knowledge with our students!
  • Our Volunteers - So appreciated, these are the folks who arrange their schedules to help with registration, tech, and other direction throughout the weekend.
  • George Michaels - Our previous registrar.  George has been extremely helpful in facilitating a transition...Phil and I couldn't have done it without you!
  • Don & Carol Bryant - Our Cookout organizers!  And thanks to the cookout support staff...those who brought and manned grills, blenders, and tailgates.  What a wonderful time we all had!

We've had a chance to review your comments and evaluations, and we truly appreciate your feedback! Thanks to everyone for taking the time to complete the event, student and instructor evals. We'll be working a few of your suggestions into our Fall event.

Speaking of the Fall, our September 24-26 DE is open for registration now, and we're looking forward to another spectacular event.  September's event is my favorite...two days on South Course followed by another day on Full Course to round out the weekend.  There's a sign overhead as you enter the South Paddock which states, "Did you tame The Shrew?"  South Course is incredible...1.6 miles of some of the best testing of vehicle dynamics and road-handling anywhere.    If you've never been on South Course, you owe it to yourself to go...and if you haven't been back since the South Paddock has been fully paved, you don't know what you're missing!  Finish off the weekend with a day on Full Course, and you'll have driven two of the finest road courses in the world all in one weekend!

Thanks again to all involved in making our Spring DE so spectacular.  We look forward to seeing you in September!

Best regards,

Kevin Pirkle
FSR DE Registrar
