Description
FSR Gimmick Rally
Rally Masters, Carl and Ronnie Gerster; have put together a Gimmick Rally that will be fun for first timers and enough of a challenge for the experienced. The Rally is planned for Saturday, April 17th and will take place in the Northern Neck area near Kilmarnock. The first car will start at 2 pm and will end by 5 pm at a great Italian Restaurant for a no host, reasonably priced dinner where the winners will be announced and prizes given. There is a $5.00 entry fee per car.
Make sure that you have at least ½ tank of gas before you start. You will be given route instructions and a list of questions that can be answered along the correct rally route. This is not a race and you will have 3 hours to complete the rally, which is about 70 miles in length if you follow the correct route. Once you are out in the countryside, you will enjoy the great Porsche roads where most of them have a 55 mph speed limit or less.
We will all meet in the parking lot of historic Christ Church in Irvington, VA by 1:30 pm. First car departs at 2 pm. If you arrive early, the church is open for historic tours at no cost.
Since this church is in the country and does not have an address that you can plug into a GPS, the written directions follow, but it is a landmark that anyone in the area can help get you there if you are lost.
From Richmond, take I-64 East to Route 33 East at West Point Exit 220. Follow Route 33 East to Route 17 at Glenns and turn left onto Route 17 North. Continue for about 2-3 miles then turn right onto Route 33 East again (by Hardees). Follow Route 33 East for about 8 miles and turn left onto Route 3 West. Follow Route 3 West across the Rappahannock River, into White Stone, and turn left onto Route 200 North. Continue about 4 miles then turn left on Route 646 (just past the Mom and Pops convenience store). Historic Christ Church will be a half a mile on the left. The visitor parking lot will be on your left just before the church.
From Virginia Beach, take route 17 North from I-64 West near Hampton. Continue for about 24 miles then turn right onto Main Street, then right onto Route 3 West. Follow Route 3 West for about 29 miles, across the Rappahannock River and into White Stone. Turn left onto Route 200 North. Continue about 4 miles then turn left on Route 646 (just past the Mom and Pops convenience store). Historic Christ Church will be a half a mile on the left. The visitor parking lot will be on your left just before the church.
See you there!
