. . . and possibly a short shift kit.

Here is my situation. I am new to the Porsche world and have only owned my car about 4 months. I travel for work often and unfortunately always seem to be out of town, or out of the country, for most of the FSR PCA events. I have met some of you at a monthly breakfast or at the Porsches and Wine event that my wife and I attended.

I am hoping to find someone that is a mechanically inclined, DIY type person that is familiar with 997.1 C2S. I want to install a Tubi exhaust that I recently purchased. I am pretty handy and did a ton of modifications on my previous car - an S2000 that I eventually installed a supercharger in.

Of course, I have researched the DIY threads on some of the forums. Just wondering if someone is interested in assisting me in installing the exhaust, building some camaraderie and putting some personal favor points in the bank.

Please email if interested. F8thnotfear@gmail.com

Sincerely,
-Rob

Rob,

If Im not in&out at sea right now I would have helped you.

I've done the exhaust swap many times, & the SSK once.

The exhaust is easy specially for someone like you who's handy and played with S2000.

-Remove the (exhaust)tips
-loosen Cat(catalitic converter) clamps to muffs
-jack rear of car
-remove both rear wheels/tires
-remove two(each muff) bolts/nuts located inboard of the mufflers. NOT the verticaly positioned long bolts which hold the carrier, BUT the horizontally positioned short bolts with threads/nuts facing towards the inboard of the engine. Using a pneumatic wrench angled 90degree will let you access these two nuts with ease.
-Drop muffs by moving them forward towards where the wheels were and pull out.

The muffs will come off with their own lft & right carrier brackets. You have to transfer these brackets on to the Tubi, unless Tubis comes with their own.

**one note, make sure that your existing tips will match your nice Tubi exhaust pipes. Im hoping that since Tubis are the top brand out there that they come with thewir own matching tips

Mike,

Thanks for the detailed response. I think you are right about me being able to accomplish this mod without issue. I am just a little nervous because this car is my baby. I put a CompTech exhaust on my S2000 and just jumped right in - not a problem. I was wondering/worried about whether the bumper cover needed to be removed. From your response, it doesn't seem like it.

As for the tips, I bought TechArt tips from SharkWerks. I really liked those the best. Hopefully the Tubi and TechArt go well together to sound great and look good!

BTW, it seems like we have more in common than just the Porsche. I am also in and out often due to my job. More on that when we talk over email, etc. BTW, I am on 6speedonline and my usernamer is Phoenix Rising.

Hey, maybe we can coordinate our schedules and install the short shift kit. I haven't purchased it yet, but have talked to Suncoast about the OEM SSK.

Thanks again,
-rob

One more note Rob. actually good thing you 're getting matching tips, I was gonna say ensure you tighten the tips on the new muff well. Alex Bell can attest that when I removed and replced his 997 FVD muffs one of the tips fell off never to be found.
