I joined PCA last fall and just registered on the FSR website today. I've been in the area since 1985. Back in the 80's I would regularly cruise by Checkered Flag Porsche just to lust after the new 911's and 944's on the lot. One weekday in 1986 while crossing the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel on the way to a project on the peninsula, a blue 928 went by and a new Porsche now headed my wish list. Well, last summer, after looking for about 8 months, I purchased a near mint 1988S4 with 30K miles from a pool dealer in Scottsdale AZ and have really enjoyed it. I understand from the previous 2 owners that it has never seen a raindrop, and I've maintained that tradition, so far. I've become much more knowledgeable on 928's, other Porsches and the company history and at some point would also like to have a 911 and/or a 928 gts.

A couple of questions:
1-Who are a couple recommended Porsche mechanics in the area? I've been using Checkered Flag for regular maintainance with no complaints, but would like to be aware of another good option(s).
2-Who are a couple of good detailers in the area? My vehicle's color is black.

Thanks.

Michael,

Welcome to FSR! Looking forward to meeting you at one of our events.

I've used Checkered Flag as well with no complaints, but mainly I take my car to Racewerks in Virginia Beach. I highly recommend them based on my personal experience.
Their number is 757-427-0742.

The other shop I can recommend is LMN Motorsports, also in Virginia Beach. They have a lot of experience with Porsches as well. I have not used LMN, but I know several FSR members that do. I've only heard positive comments. The number for LMN is 757-233- 0558.

Hope this helps with your search.

Welcome Michael,
Nice to have another Shark owner on board. Drop me an email and we can talk 928 specifics: registrar@fsrpca.org.
BTW, you'll likely have to break that no rain rule if you're going to attend the various annual 928 gatherings... unless you're really lucky w/the weather.
Cheers,
George
