Gimmick Rally – Kilmarnock, VA

E-mail Print

T’was a nice day for a rally start at the Historic Christ Church in Irvington, VA on Saturday, April 17th. We had 20 cars roll out of the parking lot with their directions in hand hoping to navigate those back roads and find the answers to their questions within the 3 hours allotted.

Carl and Ronnie Gerster and Donna Conklin were on hand to line up the cars and hand out the directions. Once the cars were out on the roads, Donna and Ronnie took some free time to amble over to the nice Italian restaurant, Anna’s, to wait for the crowd to show. Of course, the group did not know where the ending location would be; only that it was a place to eat dinner.

Carl drove the back roads looking for lost cars, and when he would wave at one to turn around because they were going in the wrong direction, he would get a nice wave back and they would keep going, oh well.

Maybe that is why car number 11 with Todd and Jack Bassett showed up at Anna’s first. Ten other cars that left before him were still out there looking for their clues.

Most scored very well, but the top award went to Dennis and Grace Ryan, 2nd place to Steve and Julie Vandergrift, and 3rd place to Jerry and Theresa Burks.

Our thanks go out to Carl and Ronnie Gerster (Pictured) for putting a really fun gimmick rally together for all to enjoy.
