Summer is in full swing with many events coming up.  As I write this, the final touches are being put on the 2010 Porsche Parade taking place July 3-9.  At Parade, the PCA Board of Directors will meet to vote on the three following items; I’ll report on the results as they become available:

(1)  A proposed membership dues increase from $42 per year to $46 per year.  If passed, the increase will become effective January 1, 2011, and regions will receive $15.50 per member, up from the current $14 per member.   The increase was suggested due to higher expenses and a need to ensure future financial stability.

(2)  Proposal for $950K for a PCA office building purchase from PCA reserves.  The current office lease expires in December and PCA is looking at options that include the purchase of a building.

(3)  The third item is to create an ad hoc committee to review member suspension appeals.  Member suspension questions seem to be on the rise.

Here in FSR, we are now operating under our new By-Laws.  The changes were approved by 92.3% of the ballots cast.  Thank you to the members who took their time to participate in their club’s affairs and voted.

As always, check the Events section of our website and this newsletter for more fun scheduled this summer, including the Evening Porsche Party on July 10th and the Porsches and Wine charity event at The Williamsburg Winery on July 24th.  Both promise to have something for everyone.

2011 Porsche Panamera gets some tweaks

Porsche said the 2011 Panamera V8 models, which go on sale in Europe in August, will feature new options and enhancements that boost fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. Contributing to lower fuel consumption are a new standard brake-energy-recuperation system and optional low-rolling-resistance 19-inch all-season tires. The brake-energy-recuperation system charges the battery when the brakes are applied. More
