Six Degrees of Membership

E-mail Print

Do you have questions you need answers to?  Do you need to find an old friend and want to know if they’re still in PCA?  Are you a new member and need advice on the purchase of a newer or vintage Porsche?  As our club’s regional membership chairperson, I’ll occasionally receive a call or email from someone looking for information.  It might be to find out the name of a restaurant we visited on a fun run from two years back.  It might be to find out more about reliability and maintenance for a 996 Carrera Cabriolet.  Just last week, I received a call from a brand new member looking to find the right shop to perform service and restoration on a very special 944.  We were able to quickly pass along two recommendations in his area.  His response?  “Yes!  Membership already worth it!”

I might even receive a rare call from someone needing to voice a complaint.  Now who would do that?  Whatever it is, I’m always happy to take those calls and emails.  Just like so many of you, I’m a car guy with Porsche being my true love.  So when I receive one of your calls or emails, I’m glad to help out.  Now, as far as knowledgebase goes, I don’t always have the answer.  Yes, sad, but true.  I’ll tell you, however, that here in FSR, we’re quite resourceful, almost like the game called “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.”  Most people probably remember a trivia game where people could connect any actor or actress to Kevin Bacon through the two actors’ past or then present movies – regardless how obscure – within six steps.  Let’s say one wanted to know how to connect Val Kilmer to Kevin Bacon, since neither of them did a movie together.  Well, Val Kilmer was in Top Gun with Tom Cruise, and Tom Cruise was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon.  (That was only two degrees; some are way harder, by the way!)

We’re kind of like that here in FSR. Since I don’t know a 1980 911 SC very well, answering a question regarding a water pump or bumper removal DIY might be difficult for me.  But within six or less FSR contacts, I’m certain we can steer you to just the assistance you need.  What makes this club so spectacular is its membership.  And as unique as every Porsche is, we are too.  So, please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of our board members for any reason.  It’s easy!  Just go to the Contact Us tab on our website.   We all want you to get the most from your membership in PCA-FSR.  Happy Motoring!
